Laboratory of Anthropological Research

The conditions under which anthropological research is taking place today are very different from those when anthropology became first instituted as a distinct academic discipline. First of all, the concept of the “field” no longer refers to an area which is strictly delineated geographically or culturally. Second, the method of fieldwork has long ceased to be exclusive to the anthropological domain, and has been appropriated by the social sciences, the arts and other fields of academic interest as a whole, and even by organizations and communities outside academia.
